It’s not the only the shows, the stench of alcohol, but the promise of companionship that lures them here. It’s their smiles that give it away. You look at them when you pass, and if they look at you and smile, they’re lonely. They’ve not had a smile all day and so go they looking for one. “
He studies her, head tipped to the side as hazel eyes narrow to inspect the shape of her smile, to observe any lines ( should he find any on such young features ) that’d suggest a frequency of a grin. There’s something there, he notes it after a moment of silent inspection, but nothing falsely made. It’s how he hires paid volunteers; London is FAT with lonely street walkers and broken men, they bear and true grin in the face of promised payment.
